nightjars in Hamsterley Forest

A night time expedition to track down two of Britain’s most elusive birds

Join professional naturalist, Bruce Ferguson, on a night time expedition to track down two of Britain’s most elusive birds, the nightjar and the woodcock. The forest management cycle fits well with the secretive nightjar. Find out how, discover its fascinating approach to nesting and breeding and hopefully hear and see it too. In addition we’ll look out for woodcock as they proclaim their territory in a dusk and dawn display called roding.
